We want to make sure that patients feel comfortable. If you don’t feel comfortable you’re not going to soak in the things that you need to do to make your surgery successful. So, one of my roles is to be an advocate, to help make sure that you’re remembering the things that we’ve taught you. There is so much that goes into the education pre surgery that it’s hard to keep it all straight. And we don’t expect you to keep it all straight. That’s what I’m here for. I’m going to be that helping hand that reaches out and says, have you gotten up and walked? I’m going to be overseeing your vital signs and making sure they’re all looking good, so you don’t have to worry about that. You’re well taken care of. You can focus on the things that you can do as a patient that are going to make you a success—have a successful outcome.
